Watford forward Matty Whichelow has joined League One-strugglers Wycombe Wanderers on a one-month loan.

Whichelow scored a hat-trick against Wanderers in a reserve game last week and it persuaded Gary Waddock to make a move for the 20-year-old.

Waddock told wwfc.com: "I've been watching Matty for a while and his performance against us just proved that he's a lively player who could make a positive impact here.

"He's highly thought of at Watford and I'd like to thank their manager Sean Dyche for allowing him to join us."

Talking to Watford's official website, Whichelow said: "I'm feeling good at the moment. Hopefully I can go to Wycombe, help them, score some goals and then come back to Watford.

"I have to keep up with what I've been doing lately and play as well as I can.

"They've got a nice ground and I know a few players at Wycombe too. I'm looking to play as much as possible and do whatever I can to help them."

Whichelow was a regular first team squad player last season, making five starts and 16 substitute appearances during the 2010/11 campaign.

He returned in the summer expecting to challenge for a starting place but only made one substitute appearance for the Hornets before being loaned out to Exeter.

The 20-year-old made three starts during his loan spell at the League One club but returned home early after losing his place.
