The Hornets have turned down another bid for sought-after defender Adrian Mariappa - this time from Wigan Athletic, the Watford Observer understands.
Watford turned down three bids for Mariappa from Newcastle United last week and another offer from Wigan was rejected today.
We understand the interest in Mariappa is far from over though with Arsenal and Newcastle expected to make offers for the centre back before the transfer window closes at 11pm tonight.
Mariappa has 18 months left on his current contract and is said to be keen to consider other options ahead of signing a new deal with the Hornets.
Mariappa's former managers at Swansea City and Cardiff City would both like to sign Mariappa but Cardiff are unlikely to bid before the summer and Swansea are reportedly set to sign Peterborough's Ryan Bennett.
If Mariappa stays, then Scunthorpe United expect to sign Watford's David Mirfin on loan. Click here for more.
