Bushey Boxing Club’s Miles Shinkwin enjoyed a convincing victory as he saw off Senior ABA champion Sam Pomphrey.
Shinkwin produced a dominant performance at the Hoddesdon Boxing Academy, Robert Gilling Hall, to win the bout fought over three rounds on a points decision.
Pomphrey, of Broad Plain Boys Club, Bristol, had not fought since claiming the title in May last year, but was no match for Shinkwin in the contest.
It was ideal preparation for the 23-year-old as he will be looking to take the title himself later this year.
Shinkwin will begin his quest on March 11, and if victorious in the Home Counties section will go forward to the national stage.
The prize beyond that could be even greater with the Olympic squad being picked from the competing fighters.
