Herts Sunday Senior Cup round Four
Headstone Athletic are through to the last eight after a well deserved 2-1 win over Watford Sunday League side Oakview.
The Olympian side made the breakthrough after 33 minutes when Matt Davis launched a long looping ball into the area from the left, which the Oakview keeper missed and Sherva Kurup flicked the ball home.
It took only four minute for Kurup to double his side's advantage, racing clear to finish from ten yards after Terry Flaherty had played a long diagonal pass from inside his own half which split the opposition defence.
Oakview had their only chance of the half three minutes later when the Headstone defence allowed Lee Armitt too much space at the back post, but his diving header came back off the crossbar.
The visitors stepped up the pressure in the second half and for the first time in the game they started to ask serious questions o f the Headstone defence.
They brought on Ben Alexander and he made an instant impact, knocking on a cross and allowing Tom Inch to scramble the ball over the line from close range.
As the game wore on, Oakview became increasingly desperate, changing to a 3-4-3 formation, which gave plenty of space on the counter-attack for the hosts.
One of these attacks with two minutes left saw Dan Page head against the underside of the bar, as his side moved another step closer to becoming the first Olympian team to reach the final.
The league's other representatives, Tudor Arms, suffered a narrow 1-0 home defeat to Berkhamsted Sunday League side AFC Boars.
A penalty after 17 minutes was all that separated the two teams.
