The worst weather of the season decimated the league and cup fixtures and only eight matches were played.

The biggest casaualty was the Herts Sunday Senior Cup where all but two matches survived, while the leaders of the Premier Division and Division One probably wished their games were off as the conditions proved a big leveller.

Premier Division

The only match to survive in the top flight produced a big shock as leaders Bushey were well beaten 5-2 by Carpenders Park Rangers.

Tom Horton (2), Hugo Figuerido, Jamie Hunt and Paul Spicer were on target for the victors, with Ashley Harewood and Jamie Brown replying for a Bushey side who remain four points clear of Oakview, but having played three games more.

Division One

There was a another big upset in the only match played in this division as table-toppers CK Guild crashed to their heaviest defeat of the campaign, 4-1 at West Herts.

CK started brightly enough, with Harry Collins braking down the left and crossing for Gary Hayne to thump home from close range. But after that it went all downhill, with Richard Akinlawon netting twice and Jason Whyte and Tudor Filamon also scoring.

But with Leigh Parr, Kareem El-Janfali and Aaron Farrell all rattling the woodwork, it was never going to be CK's day and manager Tony Hrano declared: "We outplayed them and can't believe we lost the game."

Division Two

Two matches took place in this division and AFC Spartians moved further ahead at the top following a 6-1 drubbing of strugglers Sun Sports.

Tom Duncan and Carlo Milone shared four goals and Callum McCarroll and Sean Newstead netted one apiece, with Sam Hakner hitting Sports' sole reply.

The result leaves Spartians five points ahead of Europcar, having played a game more.

Goals from Cris Blunden and Alan Dunton fired Old Fullerians (Joe Rylett) to a 2-1 victory over Hammer OGB Reserves in their mid-table clash.

Division Three

Leaders AFC Bushey enjoyed a comfortable 4-1 win at Oxhey Estates Reserves to put them three points clear of Oxhey Jets Vets.

Ryan Legge, Dan Harris, Carl Mitchell and Mark Ferguson scored the AFC goals, with Dean Ayres on target for Estates.

Ebury Guild began their new year with a third successive league win, but only after making hard work of a 2-1 success against The Pavillion.

Guild started sluggishly and found it difficult to take control of the game on a boggy pitch and it was Pavillion that took the lead ten minutes in when a good strike by Dave Gillibrand beat the Ebury keeper at the far post.

This seemed to kick Ebury into life and they soon began to play good passing football, going close on several occasions, most notably when captain Steve Bunting fired over the bar from inside the six-yard box.

The equaliser finally came ten minutes before half-time when Dan Dare’s through ball was deftly chipped over the oncoming Pavillion keeper by striker Gino De Antonis.

Ebury began the second half in the same mood as the first and with the pitch cutting up, were resorting to the long ball with no real end product.

It was their opponents who created the best opening when a one-on-one opportunity was kept out by keeper Grant Cooke. But with the game seemingly set to end in a draw, injury-time proved the most exciting period of the match.

A minute into it, Ebury were awarded a free-kick 25 yards out and Dare stepped up to curl it home and make the score 2-1.

That should have been that but Pavillion hit the ball long to create one last chance and were awarded a penalty for an off-the-ball incident. But Cooke proved to be the hero, saving a spot-kick for the third time this season to secure the three points.

Division Four

Langleybury CC Reserves went top with a 5-1 away win at AFC Bushey Reserves, whose goal was scored by Scott Mitchell.

Third-placed West Herts Reserves were held to a 3-3 draw at Gadeside Rangers Reserves, missing the chance to go second for one week at least.

However, Evergreen are arguably the best placed of the front-runners, with four games in hand on both their challengers and only one point separating all three teams.

Matt Jones and Jon Gandy, plus an own goal, registered for West Herts, with two-goal Adam Hills and Richard Reed earning Gadeside a point.
