The Hornets have not made a double bid for Portsmouth duo Joel Ward and Jason Pearce, the Watford Observer understands.
Sky Sports claim Pompey rejected a joint bid from the Hornets for the pair but we understand that is not true and it is in fact another Championship club, believed to be Ipswich Town, who have had an offer rejected.
Ward, 22, is a midfielder and Pearce is a 24-year-old defender. They have made 25 and 24 appearances, respectively, this season but Portsmouth are understood to be keen to raise cash due to ongoing financial problems.
