Colne Valley are the new leaders of the top flight after a 5-1 victory over Inter in one of only two games played due to the heavy frost.

Having forced Inter keeper Russell Fisher into a couple of good stops, Valley made the breakthrough after 20 minutes when Dave Rooney scored direct from a corner and they doubled the lead ten minutes later when Luke Clark pounced on a back pass to make it 2-0 at the break.

Inter dropped their defensive guard for the second half and despite Valley having much of the possession, Inter were looking dangerous on the counter with the long ball behind the back three.

However, it was Valley's Tom Seamons who extended their lead from the penalty spot after Jack Wilson was fouled on the hour-mark.

Inter continued to press and pulled a goal back with a well-struck long-range shot from Dan Kenna that beat stand-in keeper Gary Mumford. But Valley made the game safe with two well-taken goals from Tommy Dyson in the last five minutes.

The three points means Valley have taken over at the top of the table by a point from Headstone Athletic, who have four games in hand.

In the only other game to survive the weather, Kings Langley defeated bottom-placed Loop Construction 4-2.

Paul Greenidge put Langley ahead after just five minutes, but they didn’t increase their lead until ten minutes before the break when Steve Lovell scored. However, Loop pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time from a Gavin Horgan header.

Kings were reduced down to ten men after the break when Paul Greenidge was sent off, and with 20 minutes Loop equalised with a second headed goal, this time from Stuart Gosden.

Kings, despite playing one less man, took advantage of their opponents' lack of fitness in the final ten minutes as Lovell scored twice to seal the win.
