Craig Forsyth is desperate to secure a starting spot in the coming weeks as he knows Watford will be looking for a replacement if he fails to perform.

Forsyth started the first 12 matches this season following his transfer from Dundee but the arrival of Michael Kightly, and a drop in his own form, meant he had not even been in the match-day squad for the last two months prior to Saturday's game.

The 22-year-old marked his return against Bradford City in style with two goals but despite a good performance, Forsyth was well aware of the need to continue that improvement.

Forsyth said: “You always have to impress because of the way the loan market is. So you have to be on your toes and on the top of your game otherwise they will bring somebody else in.”

Forsyth admits he found it hard going from being a regular starter to not being involved at all but stressed the importance of having the right attitude.

He said: “It is frustrating because you work hard all week trying to make an impression and then it doesn’t happen. It is easy to get frustrated and lose your head but it is part of football and you must keep your head down and work hard.

“People go in and out of form so you have to hope you get your chance and then you can take it.”
