Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall believes Steve Borthwick deserves an England recall.
The former England captain scored against his old club Bath in Saracens' Premiership win yesterday and has been touted for a return to the international set-up.
England name their elite player squad on Wednesday and the experienced lock could yet make an unexpected return after another superb season for his club side.
McCall said: "From what I know, Steve will never give up on international rugby and if his country came calling he would definitely want to play.
"He's played outstandingly well for us. He's been outstanding all season but he seems to be the only name who's not been talked about which seems to be a little bit bizaare.
"Whether Stuart Lancaster [interim head coach] is going to go for the understudies and look to the future I don't know, but if he wants a couple of old heads around some of those young talented guys, he could do a lot worse than getting someone like Steve Borthwick in there."
