Watford’s first year scholar Bernard Mensah trained with the Ghana squad ahead of tonight’s friendly with Nigeria at Vicarage Road.
The Black Stars have had five of their squad pull out of the game in the last few days, with captain and Lyon centre back John Mensah, Udinese midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah and Schalke’s Anthony Annan among those to withdraw.
Bernard Mensah, who has yet to make a first team appearance, was asked to join the squad for training due to the depleted squad.
A Ghanaian website was reporting he had been called up to the squad but that was not the case.
Mensah was wanted by Tottenham Hotspur in the summer so the Hornets moved quickly to sign the striker on a pro deal shortly after his 17th birthday.
An update on whether the game is likely to go ahead due to the riots across the country should appear on our website in due course.
