Abbots Langley Seconds suffered a disappointing start to the season after losing by 90 runs to Radlett Fourths in Herts Division Seven.
George Agius bowled a tidy spell considering it was his first spell in the side and Dominic Smith kept his head and found some turn on a wicket that resembled a sun baked August track more than April. Jonathan Cox also kept well and took some fine catches as Radlett were bowled out for 192.
Abbots’ batting was a shambles and it did not take Radlett long to bowl them out for just 102.
Kings Langley Seconds had to settle for a draw in their match with Rickmansworth Seconds.
Ricky scored a respectable 217 for five which was helped by several dropped catches from the visitors.
Phil Robinson (two for 16), Ben Joyce (one for 30), Minesh Patel (one for 33) and Duane Smith (one for 51) were the wicket takers for Kings.
In reply, Kings had lost two wickets for 26 runs when Tom Clark (50) steadied the innings with support from Will Johnston (20), Dave Houghton (20), Phil Robinson (31), Tony Morton (17) and Minesh Patel (17). But with overs running out Kings held out for the draw as they finished on 194 for eight.
Hemel Hempstead Fourths lost their first match by five wickets to Twein.
The Langley brothers topped their innings with Jim hitting 44 and Will managing 21 as Hemel were out for 168.
But Tewin never really looked in any danger, despite two wickets for Rory Fraser, as they reached the target losing just five wickets.
