Austria Under-21 international Andreas Weimann is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a metatarsal injury in Watford’s 4-2 defeat to Leicester City.
On-loan Aston Villa striker Weimann went off after just 16 minutes yesterday and becomes the sixth Hornet currently sidelined through injury, which leaves Watford “down to bare bones” according to manager Malky Mackay.
Mackay said: “Andi rolled his foot and it looks like there is a problem with the metatarsal area on the outside of the foot.
"There is nothing we can really say on it until we get it scanned but it certainly looks like there is an area there that will keep him out for the next two weeks.
“It is obviously disappointing, especially off the back of the injuries to Ross Jenkins and Matty Whichelow in the last two weeks.
“To lose another one means we are absolutely down to bare bones and will need to fill our bench with youngsters and under-18s.”
