Oxhey Jets were thrashed 6-1 by Royston Town in the semi-finals of the South Midlands Floodlight Cup last night.
The visitors went one down in the 16th minute whilst down to ten men as Spencer Bellotti was off the field receiving treatment when Royston scored through Tom Malins.
The Jets would have settled for going in at half-time 1-0 down, but, in the closing minutes of the half, a loose ball from Warren Gladdy was seized upon by Royston and John McGrandles headed home.
Things went from bad to worse for Jets after the break as Royston scored twice, through Will Turl and Matt Standen, in the first five minutes of the half to kill the game off.
Oxhey pulled one back immediately through Chris Killer and almost added a second when Tyler Connor's effort was cleared off the line.
Lewis Putman almost found the net but the hosts broke and scored their fifth goal through Rhys Lawrence.
Both sides were now attacking and it was an end to end game. The Jets were frustrated when Stewart King was pulled back when he had beaten the Town defence but nothing was given.
Lawrence added a sixth before the end to complete a comfortable victory for Royston on the night.
