Rickmansworth kicked off their season in style with a first win over local rivals Chorleywood in ten years.
Nuqmann Latif led the way with three for 25 as Chorleywood found it difficult to build any momentum. Based around a composed 40 by Simon Dare, the other batters should have done better as 61 for three subsided to 103 for nine and only a spirited 24 by Jamie Smithson enabled Wood to reach 127 all out.
With Rickmansworth including ex-minor counties star Andy Marsh in their line-up, this was never going to be enough.
Once Shammi Hussein (28) and Sohail Bashir (24) had started the ball rolling it was simply left to Marsh to bludgeon a quickfire 48 not out to seal an eight-wicket victory with 20 overs still in the bag.
Skipper Marc Robinson said: “With our new Australian overseas player still to arrive this week, this was a great tonic for the team and the club, in what we expect to be a year when we might be finally challenging for league promotion.”
