Hemel Hempstead CC earned an eight-wicket victory over Ampthill Town in their friendly on Saturday.
After 25 overs, Hemel had Ampthill struggling on 48 for six. Cameron Hutcheon picked up four for eight from six overs as Ampthill were bowled out for 143.
Brett Penney, who was unbeaten on 160 last year, was back on form again as he finished up on 98 not out for Hemel. He missed out on his century but Hemel eased to the target for the loss of just two wickets.
In other action, Hemel defeated Abbots Langley by 60 runs in their 40-over match.
Hemel won the toss and Tom Cullen (54) hit a half-century for them while Nick Hodgins was unbeaten on 56 as they set a total of 230 for five.
Blesson Ghoghe launched Abbot’s response hitting 68 but they ended up on 170 for nine. Hemel’s Jack Doodson, Steve Reader and Hutcheon picked up two wickets apiece.
