Saracens first-team coach Andy Farrell insists Saracens can continue to improve as they step up their Premiership title assault.

The Men in Black have won eight consecutive matches in all competitions and are in a strong position to book a home play-off semi-final. But Farrell still thinks his players will be able to move through the gears as they get closer to a first league title.

Farrell said: “I think the bigger the game and the higher the stakes, the better we will play because this team rises to the occasion. There is definitely more to come from us but we have momentum with us at the moment.”

Sarries were beaten in the final at Twickenham last year by Leicester Tigers but there is a real belief in the camp they can go one better this season.

Farrell’s side travel to Exeter Chiefs tomorrow for the first time and this is seen as another step in their quest for silverware at the end of next month.

He said: “We have had a chat about what we want to achieve. The players have given us a real chance and our target is to finish in the top two, if not top so we can get a home semi-final.

“But we can only do that if we give Exeter our full attention and get the job done there.”

There is no chance of Sarries under-estimating their opponents after the Chiefs caused a major shock by winning at Vicarage Road in October.

Farrell added: “They have been fantastic and everyone knows that they have been very hard to deal with. Everyone has struggled to beat them and it’s going to be a very difficult task.

“They are a proper rugby club and have a real passion for the game. We are definitely expecting a tough battle if we are to get the result we want.”

The Men in Black have a strong squad, with Neil de Kock and Justin Melck likely to be fit after missing the Bath win with slight knocks.
