Two teams from Watford Grammar School for Boys have reached the national stages of the England Hockey Schools cup competitions.
The good form which the Under-16’s showed before half term has continued as they completed a second successive undefeated season. Their unbeaten run now extends to 28 games.
Even better than this, they won the East of England Under-16 finals and qualified for the national finals, featuring the last eight in the country, in Cannock next month. Captain Stephen Causbrook, Bill Gage and Aaron Mitchell have continued to be significant performers although everyone in the squad has contributed to the team’s success.
Watford’s U-18’s have also had an excellent season losing only one of their fixtures. In the national cup competition, having won through to the East of England finals just before half term, they eventually finished as runners up to a very strong Ipswich School.
This led to a national finals qualifying game against the runners up from the South Region, Cranleigh, which they lost 3-0. Ed Beak has continued his top form scoring an impressive 32 goals.
