Chairman's Cup Final

Radlett Road defeated Tudor Arms 2-1 to complete the first part of a probable league and cup double but a game which promised so much failed to deliver in front of a crowd of 250 at Kings Langley.

The eventual victors went ahead after nine minutes when Tudor keeper Sam Harper failed to hold Paul Kenwright’s shot and he turned in the rebound from 14 yards.

Tudor then enjoyed some possession and equalised after 29 minutes when, following an attack down the left, Ian Pepper crossed and Jack Robertson saw his shot blocked before Jack Plunkett forced the ball home from six yards out.

The second half was a rather dull affair, with both sides cancelling each other out. The only player to stand out was Radlett’s Lee Taylor, who was always a danger, and with three minutes left he scored a winner not in keeping with the quality of the match.

He picked the ball up on the edge of the 18-yard box, beat two defenders and forced his way through to slip the ball beneath keeper Sam Harper’s legs for the winner.
