A group of Leventis Tae Kwon Do students won medals at the Chung Do Kwan Championships.
For many the experience of competing was a new one and, with more than 500 competitors from all over the country, it was going to prove quite a feat to gain those elusive medals.
Christopher Leventis, 16, 28-year-old Sera Dodd, Eve Leventis Taylor, 6, eight-year-old Sydney Martin and Naja Frost Clark, 11, won two golds, a silver and two bronze medals in Poomsae. This is a series of defensive and attacking techniques.
Gavin Owen, 38, also finished third in the Kyorugi which is full contact sparring.
Rebecca Scott, Anthony Leventis, Jemma Scott, Nicolas Leventis, Gemini Chaudhari, Joshua Billings and Jermane Frost Clark all competed.
Leventis have a number of clubs based around Watford and cater for all abilities and ages from five years and up.
They train according to the WTF style Tae Kwon Do incorporating all aspects of traditional Tae Kwon Do with gradings up to black belt and beyond.
Leventis are closely affiliated and train with Master Michael King who teaches in Harrow and is the technical director of the Chung Do Kwan.
Tae Kwon Do incorporates self defence, sparring, aerial techniques and patterns with benefits such as increased stamina, co-ordination, agility, concentration, confidence and self control.
Their clubs are located at Parmiters on Monday, Leavesden Green Community Centre on Saturday and Divine Saviour Primary School in Abbots Langley on Friday.
