Watford are still hoping they can secure the loan signing of highly-rated Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend.
The Watford Observer understands Townsend was set to sign for the Hornets this week but Spurs have now decided to keep hold of the 19-year-old after he marked his debut on Sunday with the opener against Charlton Athletic.
Townsend’s immediate future could be dictated by the comings and goings at White Hart Lane and Watford are hoping they can still secure his signature before the loan window closes.
Townsend is currently part of the first team squad at Tottenham but Spurs are still hopeful of signing David Beckham and Steven Pienaar in the coming weeks.
The winger has had loan spells at Yeovil Town, Leyton Orient, MK Dons and Ipswich Town in the past two years, scoring one goal in 16 appearances at Portman Road this season.
