Steve Finn has been named in England's squad for the Ashes.
The Watford-born fast bowler, who has been handed a central contract by England which is designed to reward consistency for the national team, was picked as one of the 16 players who will attempt to defend the Ashes in Australia this winter.
Former West Herts bowler Finn, 21, has enjoyed a metoric rise in international cricket after making his debut in Bangladesh in March. He has taken 32 wickets in eight Tests at an average of 23.2.
West Herts CC director of cricket Mike Hodges said: “It’s great news for Steve and he has I am sure dreamed of this for years. He now has a chance to make history and this is something that very few people are lucky enough to have the opportunity.
"He’s a really good bloke, very down to earth and the club are delighted and very proud of his progress and success. This is great news for all local cricket, a really good news story. I am sure he will do well in Australia and we wish him the best of luck.”
