WATFORD are likely to make changes for the visit to Wigan (on Saturday, January 21), resting several of their players.
Neil Cox, Jermaine Darlington, Gavin Mahon, Bryn Gunnarsson, Paul Devlin, Neal Ardley and Heidar Helguson look set to have a weekend off as the Hornets attempt to give themselves the best possible chance against Liverpool (Tuesday, January 25.)
Lloyd Doyley, Paul Mayo, Ashley Young, Dominic Blizzard, Johnnie Jackson, Danny Webber and Bruce Dyer look set to start at the JJB Stadium. Ray Lewington may also rest the extremely promising Hamuer Bouazza and that possibility is enhanced with the arrival of Chris Eagles.
"I am not taking the league lightly, but for obvious reasons players need resting," said Lewington this week.
"It is a massive ask for the players to beat Liverpool by two clear goals but we have to give the players every chance we can.
"We could have fielded everyone at Fulham and kept the same team at Wigan. To expect them to then go out and score two goals against a full strength Liverpool side would be a bit much."
