RADLETT cricket club's professional overseas player Shane Burger has made a surprise appearance for South Africa in their Fourth Test against England in Johannesburg.
Burger - who is currently playing his cricket with Gaueteng at The Wanderers under the amateur wing of the United Cricket Board's Provincial A competition before returning to Radlett for the summer - came on as 12th man after Graeme Smith left the field for treatment yesterday during England's second innings, before temporarily replacing Jacques Kallis today (Monday), again during England's second innings.
And Burger almost had his moment of glory this morning when Ashley Giles top-edged a hook which just sailed over Burger at deep square leg for six.deep square leg's outstretched fingers for six.
