PAUL DEVLIN is to have a scan on his hamstring injury but the likelihood is that he will be out of action for a month. Devlin limped off at Ninian Park during the first half after picking up the injury - Watford's first long-term injury since Marcus Gayle was ruled out of pre-season training.
The absence of Devlin means Ashley Young can try to stake a claim, while Andy Ferrell and Anthony McNamee move up to vie for a place on the bench. Ray Lewington was impressed by the fact the reserves have fully embraced the work ethic.
"It is not being negative but if you work hard and close things down, you will not concede many goals. It was good to see the reserves. Jay Demerit and Jack Smith had good games," said Lewington, who likes to keep a positive, attacking substitute bench available.
