A Vicarage Road old boy could stand in the way of Watford attempting to get back on track following Saturday’s defeat to Wolves and completing their first home and away league double of the season at Deepdale tonight.
Defender Wayne Brown joined Preston North End on an initial one-month loan from Premiership surprise package Hull City yesterday, and the 31-year-old goes straight into the squad to face the Hornets tonight.
Meanwhile, it will be a major surprise if Aidy Boothroyd does not again shuffle his defensive pack following another disappointing display at the back at the weekend.
Darren Ward, whose loan spell with the Hornets was extended by a further month at the end of last week, looks certain to return to the heart of the defence after being ineligible for Saturday’s game, which means one of Leigh Bromby, Lloyd Doyley and Adrian Mariappa is likely to miss out.
The likes of Jay DeMerit and Lee Williamson may also be in contention to face a Preston team who Watford beat 2-1 earlier this month if they have shaken off their respective injury problems.
