Aidy Boothroyd hopes the easing of their injury crisis can help Watford to their first away win of the campaign.

The Hornets travel to Southampton this afternoon looking to add to their tally of just one point on the road this season and the Watford manager is likely to be boosted by the return of several players.

John Eustace and Lloyd Doyley returned to training this week, while Jobi McAnuff completed 90 minutes and scored for the Reserves on Wednesday.

Grzegorz Rasiak has almost recovered from his shoulder injury and, although he will not return against his permanent club, he is in contention for the Cardiff match at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night.

Jay DeMerit has a slight hamstring tweak so Leigh Bromby should slot back into the centre of defence alongside Darren Ward for the Saints clash.

Boothroyd said: "We seem to be over it, touch wood.

"Rasiak can't play against Southampton but all being well he should play a part against Cardiff. Lloyd Doyley and John Eustace have trained for the first time [Wednesday].

"Jay DeMerit is also making good progress so things are a lot better than they did.

"Priskin came back and played a part against Preston so with the players coming back, with the performances of the likes of Hoskins and Williamson, I am a lot more hopeful than I was a few weeks ago when we had a small squad and nine injured."
