Herts Junior Cup Third Round
Woodside cruised into the last-16 of the Junior Cup after a remarkable 19-2 away win over Berkhamsted Sunday League side Berkhamsted Raiders.
The Watford Sunday League outfit took the lead early on through Ellis Constantinou before doubling their advantage through Jonny Lappert's long-range looping shot.
It was then the turn of the home side to net two quick-fire goals, only for their opponents to incredibly score eight more times before the break.
Constantinou netted a hat-trick to add to his early opening goal, Potiuk also grabbed a treble of his own with Josh Towle adding two more.
The onslaught continued after the interval with two goals from Joe McCarthy, Elliott Smith and Liam Grosso, and singles from Kieran Cahil, Anthony Kalli and an own goal.
The reward for this overwhelming victory is a trip to Brookmans Park Reserves.
The other WSL team through are Hertfordshire Athletic who came through a seven-goal thriller away against AFC North West.
The home side took the lead following a strike from outside the box which trickled into the corner.
Athletic levelled when Luke Sutcliffe beat his man down the left, cut in on his right foot and struck a curling effort which the keeper could only parry into Max Davies’ path and he smashed home the loose ball.
The visitors soon went ahead when Josh Anwar crossed from the left for Ed Rogers to head home, but just before the break North West levelled when a long-range effort bobbled in over the keeper’s arm.
Athletic looked to be heading out of the competition after going behind for a second time to another long-range effort, as they trailed with just five minutes left, only to turn the tie around and complete a late comeback win.
First, they levelled with an own goal when Sutcliffe’s cross was turned into his own net by a defender, and then with a minute left Sutcliffe struck the winner from the edge of the box.
Athletic will now face Hertfordshire Vets at home in the next round after they defeated Nascot AFC 2-0.
Inter went out 3-2 at AFC Squirrel after conceding a last-minute goal.
Gabriel Casagrande and James Oldham were on target for the WSL side but mistakes at the back ultimately saw them exit the competition.
Premier Division
The much-awaited clash between St Joseph’s and North Watford ended in a rather disappointing 1-1 draw with both goals coming in the first half.
Lewis Putman rifled in a free-kick after ten minutes to give Joes the lead, but North Watford levelled when Marvin Sordell found space on the left before his low cross was turned into his own net by Johnny Wilson.
WD Bushey Rangers enjoyed a 5-0 victory over Chalfont Saints.
WD went ahead after five minutes when a well-worked move was finished off by Joshua Keane-Quinlivan.
It was quickly doubled when Corum Chase saw his effort rebound off the bar and fall kindly to Quinlivan-Keane to smash home his second.
He completed his hat-trick shortly after the break by firing home following a through ball by Gbohun Palmer-Inyang.
Stephen Ward made it four from the penalty spot after he was tripped inside the penalty area, while Chase rounded off the scoring with a header from a Daniel Flanagan cross.
Division One
Watford Town beat Watford United for the second time in seven days, although this time they had a far easier time of it.
Town overcame United 3-2 the previous Sunday, but this time they ran out 10-2 victors to move up to third place in the table.
Town raced into a four-goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes. Mark Riddick headed home two early corners, before Ben Lawford scored twice with a chipped effort and a well-taken chance.
The goals continued to flow in the first half as Declan O'Gorman scored with a finish into the bottom corner, with Riddick completing his hat-trick with a volley.
Mike Porter then struck with a shot from outside the box to make it 7-0 before an own goal got United on the scoresheet.
Town scored three more times in the second half, Riddick and Tom Bourke each bursting through from midfield and smartly finishing, while Josh Reeves also netted.
Nitharshan Sellathurai responded with a fantastic solo effort for United who are still looking for a first win of the season.
Everett Rovers moved to within four points of leaders Forza Watford as they beat Sparta Phoenix 3-0, although the game was far closer than the final scoreline suggests.
Jordan Standley broke the deadlock for Everett just before half-time.
Rovers didn’t seal the win until two goals in the final 15 minutes, with Standley getting his second of the game with a header, making up for a penalty miss earlier in the half.
Raphael De Souza made sure of the points with a close-range strike.
Division Two
With the top two teams, Woodside and Hertfordshire Athletic, in county cup action, Watford Youth Sports 2nd moved into third place with a 3-0 win over Frances George.
Gabriel Wright, Louie Muncie and Kane Clifford scored the goals.
WD Bushey Rangers Reserves completed the league double over Batchworth with a 4-1 victory.
Charlie Long scored a brace, alongside goals from Samuel Amoah and Taylor Bates, with Alex Hollis getting the Batchworth reply.
West Herts gained a first victory of the season with a 2-1 home win over Langleybury.
Jason Topping and Stephen Clunie scored the vital goals, with Robbie Edgar netting for Langleybury.
Division Three
Bricket Wood Acorns went to the top of the table after a 2-1 home success over Abbots Wanderers.
Jack Micklewright and Alex Michael scored for Acorns, with Alfie Ball replying for Wanderers.
Surely Wood beat Everett Rovers Reserves 3-2, Jordan Woodcock, Brett Fincham and Kyle Barnet on target, with Charlie Powell and Alfie Fitzpatrick netting for Everett.
Chorleywood Club AFC were held to a goalless draw by AFC Watford.
