The inconsistency which has dogged Watford all season returned as Swansea ran out 1-0 winners in a game they bossed for an hour.
The Hornets looked a shadow of the team that destroyed Sheffield Wednesday in the second half on Saturday, and did not muster a single shot on target all night.
It was thoroughly disappointing and had the home side ended the night with a healthier victory then there could have been few complaints.
There were two changes from Saturday: the suspended Ryan Porteous was replaced by Festy Ebosele while Ken Sema came in for Kwadwo Baah, who has a slight knock and was on the bench.
The Hornets lined up with a back four again, just as they did on Saturday.
The opening 45 minutes were painfully one-sided as the home side penned Watford back for long spells and it was no surprised when they went ahead.
The Hornets barely had a sight of goal and the one positive was that they weren’t trailing by more at the break.
After the break the home side remained on top and although Watford came into the game more from an hour onwards, they rarely looked like salvaging anything.
Here’s how the game unfolded:
2 - Peart-Harris hooked a shook but it lacked power and Bachmann gathered comfortably.
4 - Peart-Harris has a shot blocked, the ball comes back to him and his attempt to steer it into the corner is kept out by Bachmann diving away to his left.
18 - Peart-Harris broke down the right and hit an early low cross which was just out of reach of the stretching and sliding Vipotnik.
27 - Grimes curls a free-kick into the box at pace but it flies across the face of goal and out past the back post.
35 – Swansea 1 (Peart-Harris) Watford 0
Can't argue, that's been coming. Franco crossed, Ronald was free at the back post and headed back across goal for Peart-Harris to poke home at close range.
41 - A shot! Kayembe lets fly just inside the box and it's blocked for a corner.
Half-time – Swansea 1 Watford 0
55 - Ronald broke down the right, cut in and shot, the ball was blocked and fell for Franco who sliced a shot high and wide.
65 - Baah's cross is blocked and runs loose for Andrews who strikes a ferocious first-time shot that is also charged down.
79 - Doumbia slips the ball out to Chakvetadze on the left, he checks inside and sends a rising shot over the bar.
88 - Jebbison stole the ball and ran at the defence, he was challenged and the ball broke for Louza, but he shot way over.
Full-time – Swansea 1 Watford 0
