Watford earned their first away win since he first day of the season and Vakoun Bayo scored four as they trounced Sheffield Wednesday 6-2 at Hillsborough.
The home side will probably object to the pair of penalties the Hornets were given early in the second half, but at first sight it seemed referee Mr Allison got both right.
That put the Hornets 3-1 ahead after the game was locked at 1-1 at the break and, from there, they cut loose with Bayo ending a barren run in emphatic style.
Midfielder Pierre Dwomoh came in for his first Watford start with Tom Dele-Bashiru injured and Moussa Sissoko suspended.
Festy Ebosele dropped to the bench and Vakoun Bayo was brought into the starting line-up, and with Ryan Andrews not even on the bench there was a distinct lack of an obvious right-sided wing-back.
The Hornets moved to a flat back four with Ryan Porteous at right back, and played five in midfield with Kwadwo Baah and Giorgi Chakvetadze on the flanks.
Striker Daniel Jebbison returned to the squad having been left out for the last two games.
The first half saw the hosts begin the better but Watford eased themselves into the game and got ahead through Ryan Porteous only for the visitors to level it up six minutes later.
The game turned in the space of six second-half minutes with Mr Allison - rightly - gave Watford two penalties which they converted (with two different scorers!) to go 3-1 up.
Bayo, scorer of one of the penalties, added a fourth and from then on Watford were in cruise control.
The home side pulled one back, but The Crow then went on the rampage and took his personal tally to four as the Hornets ran riot.
Here's how the game unfolded:
4 - Johnson sent over a free kick from the left and Barnard ran in at the back post but headed wide.
7 - Free-kick from the right this time and Bernard rises highest again but glances the ball wide.
9 - Nice piece of skill just outside the box from Dwomoh creates space for a cross, which Bayo volleys over the bar from about 16 yards.
14 - Clever pass from Bannan allowed Gassama to tee up Johnson but he sent his shot well wide.
18 - Watford caught napping by a quick free kick which ended with Windass drilling a low cross which Bachmann dived to palm to safety.
22 - Chakvetadze broke and then played the ball into Bayo, who held it up well before laying off for Larouci to lash a shot way over the bar.
28 - Sheff Wed 0 Watford 1 (Porteous)
Quick free kick allowed Baah to attack the box on the right. He rode one tackle and got to the by-line before dragging the ball back for Porteous to sidefoot in.
34 - Sheff Wed 1 (Smith) Watford 1
Well worked down the left with Johnson getting away and then crossing for Smith to sidefoot past Bachmann.
40 - Bannan curled an effort from outside the box that Bachmann tipped round the post.
44 - Neat interchange in the area worked space for Windass but a combination of Bachmann and Sierralta managed to block inside the six-yard box.
Half-time - Sheff Wed 1 Watford 1
51 - Sheff Wed 1 Watford 2 (Ince pen)
Referee Mr Allison points to the spot after a cross is handled and Ince calmly sends Beadle the wrong way.
57 - Sheff Wed 1 Watford 3 (Bayo pen)
Having been played into the area and then bundled over by Bernard, Bayo got back and blasted the penalty straight down the middle.
67 - Sheff Wed 1 Watford 4 (Bayo)
Ebosele did so well on the right, making a yard and then standing the ball up to the back post for Bayo to get above his marker and head down into the net.
70 - Could easily have been five as Chakvetadze broke away and then rolled the ball for Kayembe, but he shot over.
76 - Palmer with time and space in the box but Bachmann parries well from close range.
82 - Sheff Wed 2 (Valentin) Watford 4
Deep cross from the left and Valentin came in at the back post to thump it home.
84 - Sheff Wed 2 Watford 5 (Bayo)
What a finish from Bayo, to complete his hat-trick! Sent clear as the home defence looked for offside, he drew Beadle off his line and then cheekily flicked a lob over him and into the net.
87 - Sheff Wed 2 Watford 6 (Bayo)
Four! Bayo has four! Larouci attacked the box on the left and his cross was smacked into the roof of the net by The Crow!
90+5 Sema cuts in from the right and forces Beadle to save with his legs
