Kings Langley ultimately eased to a comfortable 3-0 victory at a battling Stotfold side who played for an almost an hour with ten men following a first-half sending off.
With an average age of 21 years and nine months to Saturday's starting line-up, Kings featured yet another debutant in Kalen Lisbie, son of former Premier League striker Kevin Lisbie. The young centre back slotted in alongside the consistent Charne Lemba and looked assured throughout.
Both teams showed a commitment to attack from the outset and there were early chances for Kings as both Rayan Clarke and Declan Phillips saw shots blocked while their goalkeeper, Cian Moore, made two sharp saves in rapid succession to maintain parity.
The game continued end to end until a dramatic five-minute period from the half hour swung it significantly in Kings’ favour.
First Callum Kane skied a golden opportunity at the back post for the hosts, then almost from the restart Kings won a corner which fell to Jake Anthony. The bustling striker’s snap-shot hit both posts before being rammed home by full-back James Towell for his third goal in the last four league games.
The host's woes were compounded just minutes later when Dempsey Thomas’s ill-judged intervention on Clarke when the flying winger was clear on goal led to an inevitable red card.
Kings retained the lead until the break and as is customary in such circumstances, found themselves facing an amended home formation of two banks of four in the second period.
The adjustment conceded the lion’s share of possession to Kings and they used the advantage effectively in spreading the ball wide to keep the beleaguered hosts at full stretch.
A second goal looked likely and it duly arrived when Anthony latched onto Lisbie’s perceptive through ball, shrugged off a challenge and finished emphatically.
Kings were well in command now and the result was put beyond doubt when their patient build-up found Towell wide on the right. The experienced defender’s penetrating low cross was met first time by Bradley Smith to sweep home confidently for the young striker’s fourth goal in as many games.
Tactical substitutions followed which allowed Kings to safely manage out the remaining minutes without anxiety and secure their fourth consecutive league victory on the road.
