While enjoying the 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Vicarage Road, defender Francisco Sierralta stressed that it was essential Watford now start to deliver the goods on the road.

The Hornets have won five out of six at home, but only one out of six on their travels.

“We're happy with the win but we need to get more points in away games,” he said.

“We have lost too many away games and we need to work on playing away from home as well as we do here.

“I can't put my finger on why things are so different away from home. We need to keep preparing and working during the week in the same way.

“The home run has been magic though. Remember that when Tom took over we hadn't won at home for months. Now our home form is incredible.”

The Chilean international said the victory had lifted the spirits in the squad after back-to-back losses.

"After two defeats on the road, the feeling in the dressing room is 100 per cent better,” he said.

“We know how important it is to win at home and it was also important to keep a clean sheet.

“Now, straight away we must get ready for the next game. It's a long season and we know we must keep going like we did against Blackburn.

“Against Leeds in midweek, we played good football but lost. Against Blackburn we upped our game. If we continue the way we're going, we will win a lot of games.

“Blackburn are a really good team and they had a great chance in the first half, but that's football.

“They made it difficult. They often defended with ten outfield players, but we have to know that when they attack we have to stay compact and then when we attack we create chances.”

Sierralta told the same story of the penalty as his head coach.

“With the penalty, their lad had his hand in the air but the referee took a long time,” he said.

“Incey was off the field, we spoke to Tom Cleverley and he chose the penalty taker. Edo was calm - in training he practices penalties a lot.

“After he scored, we tried to keep the pressure on Blackburn, we wanted to manage the game.

“We're happy to be playing for Tom. He prepares for every game so very well. We lost two games before the Blackburn match but the fans kept supporting us.

“It's a long season and sometimes when results aren't what we want, we need to keep believing in our team and the coach.

“This will be the key for the rest of the season.”
