Defender Angelo Ogbonna’s hamstring injury means he will be sidelined for six to eight weeks, while midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru has been sent for more tests on his knee swelling.

The pair will both miss the game with Blackburn at Vicarage Road on Saturday (12.30pm kick-off).

“Festy Ebosele came off at Leeds with muscle cramps at the end but he’s fine and fit for selection,” said Cleverley.

“Edo Kayembe got one of those that we’ve all suffered as a footballer where he got a knock on the ankle nerve and the whole foot goes numb. It was a little bit more worrying at the time but he’s fine as well.”

There were hopes that Jeremy Ngakia and Kevin Keben would be ready for this weekend’s game but both will need at least another seven days.

Summer signing Keben is still yet to make his debut but Cleverley said: “He’s progressing really well and I’m liking what I see.

“He’s the type of player that is going to bring us speed in the back line, and he’s physically dominant. I see a good foundation of technical ability for us to work with and it looks like we’ve got a good prospect on our hands.

“I’m looking for him to be ready for Sheffield Wednesday or Swansea.”

Francisco Sierralta played the first hour at Leeds on his return from injury which had ruled him out since the 4-1 defeat at Norwich on September 21.

“It was was exactly that, a planned hour,” explained Cleverley.

“With losing Angelo we were carefully managing Fran through the game, and 60 minutes was always the plan.

“He’s someone we’ve missed a hell of a lot, with and without the ball. He’s a player that is really important to how we want to play, and now we can play without needing to manage his minutes.”
