Anyone who thought the last derby defeat at Luton was as bad as it got was in for a horrible shock as Watford were soundly beaten 3-0 at Kenilworth Road.
The home side totally deserved both the win and the margin of it, as Watford offered little resistance and folded tamely.
Dan Bachmann returned in goal after his recent injury while Vakoun Bayo led the forward line,
Ken Sema and Ryan Andrews were the starters in the wing-back positions, while Francisco Sierralta was among the subs.
After making a reasonable start, Watford spent the rest of the half being pushed back and struggling to make any headway against a home side that looked more revved up.
Conceding after 11 minutes only boosted Luton and they were sharper in the tackle, quicker to loose balls and more determined in challenges.
It got no better after the break as the home side quickly made it 2-0 and then simply cruised home against a Watford side that barely posed a threat, and then added a third in stoppage time.
Another truly awful performance in a derby at Kenilworth Road.
Here’s the game unfolded:
2 - So nearly an own goal as Holmes overhits a backpass that clears Kaminski but goes just wide.
3 - Chakvetadze cuts in from a half-cleared corner and his low shot is pushed round the post by Kaminski
6 - Watford don't clear their lines, Burke shoots from just inside the box and Bachmann turns it round the post.
7 - Kayembe's cross is blocked and Dele-Bashiru fires the loose ball over the bar from 18 yards.
11 – Luton 1 (Clark) Watford 0
Doughty hit an outswinging corner and Clark met it first time with a well-struck shot into the corner.
20 - Corner cleared to Chong on the edge of the box, but he sends his shot over the top.
22 - Chakvetadze breaks and then plays in Bayo, but he tries to take a touch in the box and is blocked.
38 - Morris breaks down the left and gets past Ogbonna before releasing a low cross which Watford clear as Adebayo closes in.
43 - Sissoko gets away down the right and then cuts the ball square to Chakvetadze, but he curls his shot over the top.
Half-time – Luton 1 Watford 0
47 – Luton 2 (Morris) Watford 0
Ridiculously simple. Doughty hits a deep corner and Morris has peeled away at the back post to score with a downward header.
54 - At last, an effort on goal. A cross is cleared, Dele-Bashiru gathers the ball his curling effort is palmed away by Kaminski.
72 - Baah crosses low, Jebbison tries a clever flick but Hashioka blocks.
83 - Adebayo got behind the defence but Bachmann deflected his angled shot away from goal.
90+1 Luton 3 (Brown) Watford 0
Salt rubbed firmly in wounds as Brown gets the better of Porteous, checks inside Ogbonna and slots into the corner.
Full-time – Luton 3 Watford 0
