Watford Swimming Club made a triumphant start to their Arena League campaign under the leadership of newly-appointed head coach James Cameron.

Competing in Round One at Luton against some fierce competition, Watford delivered a superb performance, finishing fourth overall in a tightly contested event against powerhouse teams from across London.

The Watford’s swimmers went head-to-head with their capital counterparts in thrilling races, individuals and relays. The team showed their grit, determination and skill throughout the competition, securing their top-four finish with a string of impressive personal bests and outstanding efforts from swimmers across all age groups.

“The team showed how unified they are,” a delighted Cameron said. “There was amazing teamwork and support throughout, and they deserved a superb and solid result in Round One. I’m proud of what they’ve already accomplished.”

One of the standout stories of the day was Jack Donald, who made a late step up and a step of two age groups to compete alongside older athletes. His courage and competitive spirit were clear as he more than held his own, delivering performances well beyond his years and playing a key role in Watford’s overall success.

On the boys’ side, three swimmers delivered eye-catching results. Constantine Callifas, Max Walters, and Danylo Snitko all clocked personal bests in the 100m freestyle, highlighting the depth of talent in the squad. Their efforts in the pool set the tone for Watford’s performance throughout the competition.

For the girls, Amy Harper delivered a personal best in the 100m backstroke, showcasing her power to secure vital points for the team.

Meanwhile, Isla Caley, Ruby-May Ciaburro and Summer Evason demonstrated resilience by stepping up in a range of events across the evening.

As they move forward in the competition, Watford will look to build on this excellent start and push for even higher finishes in the remaining rounds of the Arena League.
