A referee who is averaging more than six yellow cards a game this season has been appointed to take charge of Saturday’s derby clash between Watford and Luton Town.
The EFL website has stated that Stephen Martin will officiate in the 12.30pm kick-off at Kenilworth Road.
The Staffordshire referee has been in the middle for six EFL fixtures this season and issued a total of 39 yellow cards, 11 of which came in Middlesbrough’s 2-0 victory over Stoke City last month, and one red.
Martin was last in charge of a match involving Watford in November last year when he oversaw the 5-0 victory over Rotherham United at Vicarage Road.
Mark Dwyer and Carl Fitch-Jackson are due to be the assistant referees for the fixture at the struggling Hatters, with Declan Bourne on fourth official duties.
