Former world champion Shannon Courtenay will return to the ring for the first time in almost two years later this month as she looks to revive her career and return to the pinnacle of the sport.
The 31-year-old Abbots Langley fighter will be back in action at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday, October 19.
Courtenay clinched the WBA World Bantamweight title with a unanimous points win over Ebanie Bridges at the London venue in April 2021, but has not fought since out-pointing Gemma Ruegg in December 2022.
“It’s been a long time coming but I’m excited to finally be back and looking to make a statement to announce myself back on the big stage and get back in the mix winning more world titles,” said Courtenay.
‘The Baby Face Assassin’ will fight on the undercard of the British super-lightweight clash between Adam Azim and Ohara Davies and Boxxer founder and CEO Ben Shalom said: “It’s great to see Shannon back in the ring and back at the Copper Box Arena where she won her WBA World Title in 2021.
“She is another exciting addition to a stacked card on October 19th. With the backing of Spencer Brown and Goldstar, I’m sure she’s got a big future ahead of her.”
Courtenay has a record of 8-2-0, with three knockouts, since making her professional debut in 2019, but was stripped of her world title after failing to make the weight against Jamie Mitchell in October 2021.
