Patience will definitely be the key to continuing to unlock the potential of Kwadwo Baah.
His winning strike against Middlesbrough showed he has technique to match his power and pace, but the rise from not playing a minute of competitive football for Watford in two years to being a regular in the first team squad has come in just a couple of months.
He started away at Preston, was back on the bench at Vicarage Road and made another explosive cameo.
“I know KB doesn’t want to be seen as an impact substitute but like I said in the pre-match press conference, let’s not expect too much from him too soon,” said Tom Cleverley.
“A lot has happened and he has made a lot of progress in a short space of time. He was at Burton Albion last year.
“His progress and his attitude in his day-to-day work is fantastic. He’s on the right path.”
Daniel Jebbison started his second game for the Hornets in the win over Boro.
“It was a mixed bag for him today,” said Cleverley.
“He stretches the line well for us and he’s a threat in behind, and I thought he was close a couple of times on the counter-attack.

“His hold-up play needs to be a little bit better and there are things to work on with his game.
“There is massive potential in him. He’s got speed, he can finish off both feet and now it’s my job to get him in those positions to be able to finish.
“Possibly he did try a bit too hard at times, because he is so keen to impress.
“It’s not a bad quality to have, but it made him a little bit anxious at times.
“It’ll come for him, I’ve absolutely no doubt about that. We see a top player in him, and a bright future.
“We’ll work with him to get the best out of him.”
The key thing against Boro was that even though Watford spent long periods without the ball, they still looked dangerous in the final third.
“Our attacking play this season has been excellent,” Cleverley pointed out.
“We did a big piece of work in pre-season because in the nine games at the end of last season we weren’t productive enough, although we did tighten up defensively.
“Perhaps the balance has shifted a little bit too much, but in every game we look like scoring and the data and numbers are saying that too.
“Even when you don’t see as much of the ball as you’d like, I still have full faith in us creating good enough chances to score goals.”
