Photos have given a closer look at all the details of a huge painted tribute to an iconic Watford FC win.

Street artists MurWalls was tasked by Hertfordshire County Council with creating a piece of football art to improve the walking route between The Crescent and Watford High Street.

The artwork commemorates Watford FC’s play-off final 2-0 victory against Bolton at Wembley on May 31, 1999, which saw them promoted to the Premiership for the first time in the club’s history.

During the painting phase, MurWalls owner Marc Silver told the Watford Observer: “We’re working right by the girls school and the nursery so lots of parents are walking past.

“Everyone is stopping and having a chat, telling us how everyone is really enjoying seeing it.”

(Image: Newsquest) “With all the projects that we do, it’s really nice to see the reactions,” the 47-year-old added. “Putting smiles on faces is something we really enjoy doing.”
