Herts Junior Cup Round One

Despite only seven games being played due to the heavy rain which swept the area overnight on Saturday, there were wins for all of the Watford Sunday League’s sides in the Herts Junior Cup.

WD Bushey Rangers Reserves came through a 4-3 thriller against Bullys Crusaders.

WD found themselves cruising 3-0 ahead after goals from Sabir Noor, Charlie Long and Raphael Wiredu.

Bullys pulled themselves back into the tie with a penalty and a second goal followed soon after.

Noor restored his team’s two-goal advantage before the visitors pulled another back in the final minutes but were unable to force an equaliser.

Bricketwood Acorns enjoyed a 5-0 home win over Lea Sports PSG.

The game was over as contest by half-time as Acorns hit four goals in the opening 45 minutes through Jack Micklewright, a brace from Alex Michael and Harrison Fisher’s well-taken solo effort.

Micklewright put the seal on the victory with his second and Acorns’ fifth goal in the second half.

It was a much closer affair between Langleybury and Berkhamsted Athletic as the home side edged it with a 2-1 win.

Berkhamsted took an early lead but Charlie Hobbs levelled with a long-range effort.

The winner came 20 minutes from the end when a long throw from Jack Babbington was flicked home by Dan Wilson for the winner.

Division One

The only match in the division to survive the weather saw a classic game off two halves as Old Fullerians managed to lose a half-time three-goal lead to go down to a 4-3 defeat against Watford Youth Sports 1st.

Fullerians took the lead in the first half when a corner from the left by Jake Entwistle was glanced home by Chris Munroe.

They doubled their advantage when a cross found its way to Joe Rylett who slotted home from close range.

He then doubled his tally, finishing off a swift counter-attack down the right from a Entwistle cross to the back post.

But in the second half Sports struck back with goals from Jake Millman, Michael Doran, Zak McNicholas and Taylor Kemp to seal the remarkable comeback.

Division Two

Woodside moved to the top of the table with a 5-1 victory over Inter.

Lui Potiuk netted a double, with the other goals coming from Luke Dolan, Josh Towle and Joe Fox. The inter consolation goal was scored by James Oldham.

Division Three

Everett Rovers Reserves are the new leaders as they made it ten points from four games after a 2-1 success over FC Railway.

Cody Chamberlain and Lewis Fairey scored the goals, with the Railway reply coming from Tom Coleman.

Goals from Jay Haynes and James Anderson were enough to give Dome Bar a first win of the campaign over Nascot AFC.

- Peter Drum, the former league general secretary from 1998 to 2017 and president until the end of last season, died last weekend after a long illness.

Peter was also club secretary of Rifle Volunteer for many years and will be very much missed by all of those involved with the league, both past and present.

As a mark of respect for him and his service, a minute’s silence will be observed before all matches this Sunday.
