A pair of second-half headed goals gave Watford Women their third consecutive victory as they beat Cheltenham Town 2-0 at Grosvenor Vale.
It means the Golden Girls have now won three of their last four matches in the National League Southern Division.
Cheltenham posed the first couple of threats in an even opening half as Henna Butcher threatened to break onto an Em Owens clearance before being brought down, and then Anais Trinic saw her cross palmed away by Watford keeper Maria O’Sullivan and Meg Attenborough fired the loose ball over the bar.
As the half wore on the Hornets began to carve out chances and skipper Megan Chandler sent a shot over the target before Flo Fyfe saw a chipped effort just clear the crossbar on the stroke of half-time.
Jessie Gale had a shot deflected wide three minutes into the second and then Elkie Bowyer drove a shot that almost crept in.
Midway through the second half the Golden Girls took the lead through their skipper.
Gemma Davison’s corner from the left was knocked up in the air by Anne Meiwald and Chandler sent a header looping over Town keeper Mia Smith and just under the crossbar.
Three minutes later it was 2-0 from another corner, this time Coral Haines floated the ball from the right into the heart of the six-yard box and Anna Filbey rose highest in a crowd to head down and in for her first Watford goal.
In the closing stages the visitors came close to halving the deficit when Una Lue set up Ella Pemberton for a shot that went just wide, and then Lue fired straight at O’Sullivan, before Dre Georgiou saw a shot saved by Smith in stoppage time.
Watford are at home again on Thursday when they host AFC Wimbledon at Grosvenor Vale (7.45pm).
Watford: O’Sullivan; Filbey, Meiwald, Chandler, McLean, Bowyer, Wilson (Georgiou 17), Haines, Davison (Paul 74), Fyfe (Hall 78), Gale (Head 78). Subs: Goldsmid, Bishop, Hind
