A Cassiobury Parkrun stalwart has been honoured with a special award.
Sharon Davidson, who has been a dedicated volunteer at Parkruns in South Hertfordshire for the past 11 years, received the Celebration of Parkrun Award from the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster JP.
The award was presented at the Cassiobury Parkrun in recognition of her "outstanding contribution" to the Parkrun community.
Ms Davidson, currently the event director of Cassiobury Parkrun, has volunteered on 440 occasions over the last 11 years.
She was present at the inaugural Cassiobury Parkrun and has supported the King George and Cassiobury Junior Parkruns.
Her dedication and enthusiasm have supported more than 165,000 instances of participation over the last nine years.
The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster JP, said: "It was a delight to surprise Sharon.
"Sharon is a fabulous volunteer who has given up so much of her time to make sure others can participate.
"Thank you for all your hard work and for touching so many people’s lives.
"Thank you amazing Watford joggers who provided pacing athletes to support others."
The award was presented earlier this summer with 559 runners in attendance, who congratulated Ms Davidson on her award before setting off on the 5k route.
The Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership, which is working with the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire to celebrate her year-themed 'Sport for Good', organised the awards.
They plan to recognise many more volunteers for their continued hard work in helping to get more people active.
A spokesperson for the Herts Sport and Activity Partnership said: "(We) are excited for the year ahead where they will be recognising lots more local volunteers celebrating their continued hard work to help get more people, more active, more often."
Parkrun is a free, community event where people can walk, jog, run, volunteer, or spectate.
It is a 5k event which takes place every Saturday morning.
There is also a junior Parkrun, which is 2k and dedicated to four to 14-year-olds and their families, every Sunday morning.
