At the end of a week which saw the Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season leave the club, Watford responded with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Derby County.

Defender Francisco Sierralta said the victory showed that the Hornets have already absorbed the change and created a unit that is ready for the challenges ahead.

“We are a team and team spirit is important, it doesn’t matter who is playing,” the Chilean reflected.

“We have 24 or 25 players and if one player isn’t available, we have our system.

“When we played in the League Cup against MK Dons we made changes but we won 5-0. I’m hoping to see the same happening on Tuesday.

“Against Derby, we started by giving away a goal, but it didn’t matter – we played like a great team.

“We stayed calm, kept believing until the end and won the game. After Derby scored, we were compact, and that’s important.

“Playing a team like Derby, it’s important not to concede – then we conceded in the first couple of minutes!

“But we played well, moved the ball fast. In the second half I think Derby became tired, and we found space and scored.

“It was a matter of being patient. Derby had their moments and pressed us with corners and long throws, but we didn’t concede.

“Four wins out of four is a great feeling.”

Sierralta had plenty of praise for his teammates after the game at Vicarage Road.

“Moussa is an incredible player and that was a great goal. We’re happy for him,” he said

“He is a leader. He arrives first for training and he teaches the young players a lot. We’re happy to have him in the team.

“Bayo’s goal was great, and so was the assist from Mattie - incredible.

“I didn’t expect Bayo to do what he did, but he’s an incredible player. He does that a lot in training!

“Mattie is a young player, but he wants to improve and I believe he’s a really good player. I enjoy playing alongside him.

“With James Morris and Ryan Andrews we create a massive defence. They are young but they are confident and we need to continue in this way.”
