Watford came from behind to claim a deserved 2-1 win over Derby County and make it three straight league wins to start the season.
Having gone behind inside two minutes, the Hornets went on to dominate possession and territory.
It wasn’t a game where they carved out loads of chances but they had a lot of the ball and showed patience.
A superb Vakoun Bayo scissor kick brought them level before half-time and then in the second half skipper Moussa Sissoko grabbed the winner.
There was only one change to the starting line-up, wit the injured Jeremy Ngakia replaced by Yasser Larouci.
There was a place on the bench for young Malian striker Mamadou Doumbia.
Watford were caught napping when the visitors scored after just two minutes, but the response was good as they dominated from then on.
Derby got bodies behind the ball and frustrated the Hornets who took time to work out the best way to deal with the problem.
They did, though, and drew level in stunning style through the hard-working Bayo.
The second half followed a similar pattern of Watford probing and Derby defending, and it was substitute Kawdwo Baah who created the chance for Sissoko to grab the winner.
Here’s how the game unfolded.
2 – Watford 0 Derby 1 (Adams)
Watford caught napping as Jackson was played in behind the defence and then clipped the ball back for Adams to send a side-footed volley into the corner.
6 - First attempt from Watford but Pollock's long-range effort is well over.
25 - Sissoko curling cross, Zetterstrom punches away as Bayo dives in
25 - From the corner, ball cleared to Kayembe, he chips it back in and Sierralta heads just wide.
30 – Watford 1 (Bayo) Derby 1
Stunning! Pollock clips a cross towards the back of the box and Bayo executes the perfect scissor-kick that flies past Zetterstrom and into the bottom corner.
40 – Derby assistant coach Richie Barker sent to the stands for something he said during a melee on the touchline.
45+1 - Bayo charges down Zetterstrom's clearance but the ball runs very wide and the striker, though getting there first, had little goal to aim at and chipped his effort wide.
Half-time – Watford 1 Derby 1
68 - Mendez-Laing hung up a free-kick and Adams dived to head over the bar.
70 - Andrews crossed, the ball took a deflection and Bayo stretched to head over.
75 – Watford 2 (Sissoko) Derby 1
Baah did so well to get to the by-line on the right and cut the ball back. Chakvetadze's shot was blocked but the loose ball was side-footed home first-time by Sissoko.
90+1 - Bradley dived to meet a cross but sent his header straight at Bachmann.
