Watford Sunday League: Everett Rovers and Woodside Reserves win titles

WD struck three times in the first half to take firm control of the game.

First Alessio Torrano headed home a Stevie Ward corner, then Ward himself doubled the lead from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the box.

Hodje Almeida-Joaquim made it 3-0 right on the half-time whistle after dribbling past a defender before rounding the keeper to score.

Forza pulled a goal back in the second half thanks to an own goal, and then had the chance to further reduce the arrears when they were awarded a penalty with 15 minutes remaining but Guiseppe Delgaudio blazed his spot kick over the bar.

Cassiobury Rangers got the better of Evergreen 4-2.

Myles Shahidi, Jon Burch, Corey Botten and Elliot Burr netted for Rangers, with Jake Sahota replying with both the Evergreen goals.

The first was a simple tap-in and he then equalised after being put through by Joss Dunham, but it was not to enough to take a point, with Rangers responding with two more goals to secure the victory.

Glenn SSC took six points from their double header with Abbots Langley Club.

The first game was a straightforward 5-0 win, although Glenn only led by one goal at the break after Lewis Putman had slotted past the keeper.

Abbots had a chance to level from the penalty spot after the break but Charlie Patmore saved the kick, and their opponents went to dominate the rest of the game.

George Davies headed home an Owen Ayres cross, Putman got his second of the match to make it 3-0 before Davies and Ayres completed the scoring.

In the second match Abbots took the lead early on through a goal from Eli Kefas. It was an advantage they looked like holding onto until two late goals.

First Frankie Henley was fouled in the area and Putman equalised from the resulting penalty, then Henley raced through on goal to slot past the keeper and complete the comeback.

Division One

It has been a good week for SOCA. Last Wednesday evening they overcame Batchworth 2-0 with a goal in each half from Conor Maher, before beating CF Watford Continentals 7-1 on Sunday to go top of the table.

Stevie Dowling opened the scoring spree early on following a flicked header by Kane Clifford before Leandro Mateus and Jordan Austin also got in on the scoring act.

Continentals did pull a goal back from Alex Bushnell following a good break just before the interval.

In the second half it was all SOCA with Dowling not only completing his hat-trick but adding one more goal to complete the win.

Watford Sports beat Old Fullerains 2-1 with all the goals coming in the first half.

Sports took an early lead when Taylor Kemp set up Zak McNicholas for a tap-in.

The score was doubled when the wind carried the ball over the keeper, which allowed former Old Fullerians player Luke Carey to score home against his old club.

The hosts were able to pull a goal back before half-time when a cross came in for Sports to put the ball into the back of their own net.

Division Two

Everett Rovers made it back-to-back titles with a comprehensive victory 7-0 over Abbots Wanderers.

They found themselves three up by half-time thanks to goals from Archie Potton, Jordan Standley and Sam Waller.

The second half saw more of the same with four more goals coming from Regan Weiser, another goal for Standley and a brace from Michael Dankwa, ensuring that Everett could celebrate the championship in style.

The battle to be runners-up behind Rovers is between Sparta Phoenix and St Joseph’s Reserves.

Sparta could only take three points from their double header with Hertfordshire Athletic.

They won the first game 3-1, Philippe Clarke with a double and a goal for Floyd Thompson, with Dan Linfield replying.

The return match saw Athletic run out 2-1 winners thanks to a Henry Gibbor double, with Phoenix’s goal coming from Ridhwan Shodeinde.

Dillon Hemington and Mitchell Tearle scored the goals as Joes Reserves beat Dunnings Bar 2-0, which leaves them seven points behind Sparta with a game in hand.

Division Three

Woodside Reserves sealed the title following a 3-3 draw with Carpenders Park Royals.

Josh Towle hit a brace alongside a goal for Lui Potiuk, while Roberts Da Silva, George Dalling and Danny Lewis scored for Royals who still have a chance of finishing in the runners-up spot.

FC Railway moved back into that position after a 3-1 win over Chorleywood Club AFC, Domenic Leacock with two goals and one for Nathan Tanian, with Jordan Allen replying for Chorleywood.

Surely Wood beat Abbots Athletic 2-1, Jack Burrill and Keith McAspurn with the goals, with the Abbots response coming thanks to an own goal.
