An official who last took charge of a game in the Championship at Watford is set to back in the middle at Vicarage Road tomorrow for the Hornets’ penultimate home fixture of the season.
The EFL website has announced that Ben Toner has been appointed to officiate in the match against Hull City.
The Lancashire official was at Vicarage Road in February when he took charge of the 2-1 defeat against Huddersfield Town, but since then he has been refereeing in League One and League Two.
Toner has officiated in a total of 31 league and cup matches this season, issuing a total of 151 yellow cards and two reds.
Mark Stevens and Shaun Hudson are due to be the assistant referees for the 3pm kick-off, with Jeremy Simpson on fourth official duties.
Tom Cleverley’s men will be aiming to put the bitter disappointment of the unjust defeat at Southampton behind them and finally end their 11-game, four-and-a-half month wait for a home league victory.
The Tigers coming to Vicarage Road in seventh place in the table, six points outside the play-offs but with a game in hand on the two clubs above them, Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion, as the regular season nears its conclusion.
