The referee who sent off two players at the end of a Premier League game last weekend is due to be in charge when Watford aim to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
The FA website has stated that Michael Salisbury has been appointed to take charge of the tie against promotion-chasing Southampton at Vicarage Road.
The Lancashire official was in the middle for the 2-2 draw between Sheffield United and West Ham United at Bramall Lane when he sent off Blades’ substitute Rhian Brewster for a high, late tackle in the 93rd minute.
That incident resulted in Vladimir Coufal also being cautioned for demanding Brewster was sent off and four minutes later the Hammers player received a second yellow for a trip.
Those were the first red cards Salisbury has shown in 14 league and cup games this season, the majority of which have been in the top flight, and he has also brandished a total of 46 yellows.
Matthew Wilkes and Derek Eaton are due to be the assistant referees for the 2pm kick-off, with Will Finnie on fourth official duties.
