Watford have been drawn at home to Southampton in the FA Cup fourth round.
They progressed through the third round for the first time since 2019 by beating Chesterfield 2-1 at Vicarage Road on Saturday, with Tom Dele-Bashiru scoring the winner five minutes into stoppage time.
The fourth round fixtures will take place around the weekend of January 27 and 28, although games chosen for live TV could be played on the Thursday, Friday or Monday.
The broadcasters will make their selections in the coming days and these will be announced in due course.
One thing that is for certain is that Watford’s scheduled Championship match against Sheffield Wednesday, which was due to be played at Hillsborough on Saturday January 27, will now be moved to a date later in the season.
Should Watford reach the fifth round, then all matches at that stage are due to be played in midweek, in the week commencing Monday February 26.
The last time Watford reached the fourth round was in 2019, and they won 2-0 at Newcastle with goals from Andre Gray and Isaac Success on their way to reaching the final at Wembley.
The season before that they went out in the fourth round, losing 1-0 away to a Southampton team that included current Hornets captain Wes Hoedt.
Watford have got past the fourth round five times this century, in 2019 (lost 6-0 in the final to Man City), 2016 (lost 2-1 in the semi-final to Crystal Palace), 2009 (lost 3-1 to Chelsea in the fifth round), 2007 (lost 4-1 to Man Utd in the semi-final) and 2003 (lost 2-1 to Southampton in the semi-final).
Being drawn at home means Watford will host an FA Cup fourth round tie for the first time since a Rafael van der Vaart goal saw Tottenham beat the Hornets 1-0 in 2012 – a match that saw a 23-year-old Jake Livermore playing in midfield for Spurs.
