Millwall Under-21s extended their run of just one league defeat all season as they beat Watford 3-1 at London Colney this afternoon.

The Lions sit third in the Premier League Development League South table, and if they win their game in hand they will go top.

After a bright start to the season, Watford are now without a win in seven league games and are eighth in the 10-team division.

It was Watford who threatened first with skipper George Abbott seeing his seventh-minute header come back off the crossbar.

However, the visitors went ahead after 18 minutes through Sha’mar Lawson, and there was a further blow for Watford 10 minutes later as Jack Grieves went off injured and was replaced by Junior Gyamfi.

In the 32nd minute Millwall doubled their lead with goal from Ra’ees Bangura-Williams.

The Hornets needed a route back into the game and they got one three minutes before the interval when Laken Torres netted to make it 2-1.

Michael Adu-Poku got in behind the visitors’ defence on the hour mark and was sent tumbling, but referee Mr Norton waved play on.

Substitute James Collins then set Adu-Poku up six minutes for an effort than forced a fine save from Millwall keeper Ethan Wady.

However, the visitors made sure of the points in the 71st minute when Kavalli Heywood made it 3-1.
