Ryan Porteous and his Scotland teammates ran into an England team that clicked into gear at Hampden Park last night and suffered a 3-1 defeat.
Gareth Southgate’s side under-performed in their 1-1 draw with Ukraine at the weekend, but Porteous and co felt the effects of the reaction to that as England dominated in claiming victory in the match marking 150th anniversary of football’s oldest international fixture.

However, on a personal level Porteous had a decent night.
The Watford defender won three tackles, more than an any other player on the pitch, and his seven successful duals was the joint highest with Scotland teammate Scott McTominay.
Porteous even found time to get on the end of a late free-kick to send a header into the side-netting.
Ken Sema played the full 90 minutes for Sweden in their Euro 2024 qualifier with Austria in Stockholm but the away side claimed a 3-1 win.
Watford skipper Daniel Bachmann was on the bench for Austria, who are now level with Belgium on 13 points in the group, seven clear of Sweden in third.
On-loan winger Giorgi Chakvetadze came on for the final 23 minutes of Georgia’s qualifier away in Norway but couldn’t prevent his country from suffering a 2-1 defeat.
Georgia are now fourth in their group, three points behind Norway in third but 11 behind leaders Scotland.
Midfielder Edo Kayembe played the first 67 minutes for DR Congo as they lost a friendly 1-0 to South Africa.
