A famous Hornets fan shocked Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, and Micah Richards by revealing the origin of his love for Watford.

The biggest name in the European football transfer market Fabrizio Romano is a known fan of Watford despite being born in Naples and based in Milan.

Taking a break from his frantic transfer coverage, which he says leaves him just four or five hours sleep per night during the window, the journalist made an appearance on The Rest is Football podcast with the three pundits.

Gary asked Fabrizio who he supports, and the Italian looked to be expecting the confusion that followed as he answered “Watford”.

The host's shock then got worse as Fabrizio explained that the key moment came against his own Leicester FC in 2013.

Fabrizio said: “I was buzzing really my link with Watford was the Italian ownership so when I started to follow English football this attraction to Watford was London and the Italian family taking care of the club... for me it was really attractive.”

“Then that game with Troy Deeney scoring, with Gianfranco Zola on the bench for me was like incredible, 'that’s not possible',” he added.

“I’m sorry but that’s the story.”
